“Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? ... Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” --Genesis 17:17; 18:12

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." --Romans 12:2

Renewing Your Mind

Do you want to have a joyful life without being consumed with fears and worries and negative thoughts? Here is the answer --allow the Lord to renew your mind! We have control over what we think about and it is so important to realize this and not allow just any thought the enemy (or flesh) wants to plant in our minds to take root. During pregnancy we are can use the following principles to avoid being controlled by our feelings and emotions --which often run wild thanks to those wonderful hormones! We can choose not to allow our moods to dictate our actions or attitudes.

We need to practice spiritual warfare in the mind by refusing to entertain negative thoughts, refusing to dwell on the past or fear the future, or play something out over and over again.

The way we do this is by choosing instead to fill our minds with God's Word, dwelling on His faithfulness, His principles, His blessings --filling our minds with positive thoughts and good things, submitting ourselves to the Lord minute by minute, second by second --casting down those vain imaginations and allowing the Lord to set us free!

It is impossible to think two things at the very same time so if we're faithful to submit to the Lord and fill our minds with thoughts pleasing to Him, eventually the enemy will give up on trying to plant those negative thoughts --at least until another time. (Then we can put these principles into practice once again!)

We always have to stay on guard that's why the Lord admonishes us to ABIDE in Him and draw nigh to Him and walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh, taking up our cross each day to follow Him!

This may seem difficult at first if we're used to allowing the enemy and flesh free access to our minds, but with practice and giving this area up to the Lord, it will become easier and there will be such an improvement in our lives as a result.

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" --2 Corinthians 10:3-5

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things....and the peace of God shall be with you." --Philippians 4:8,9b

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." --Romans 12:2

How do we renew our minds? By allowing His Word to fill us, wash us, cleanse us from all impurities and sin and by allowing His principles to become ours --instead of following the world's philosophy and methods of allowing anything and everything to enter our minds and stay there, causing roots of bitterness and fear to grow and affect us adversely.

"This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind" --Ephesians 4:17

"And be renewed in the spirit of your mind" --Ephesians 4:23

Spending too much time thinking about the negative causes us to operate in fear instead of faith. We look at all that is wrong with us, our circumstances, others, instead of what is right with Jesus. We must first offer God what we have, and then He gives us what He has. He takes all our sins, faults, failures, weaknesses and gives us His ability, His righteousness, and His strength. In Christ we have a future worth looking forward to!

Throughout this site I've shared scriptures which have encouraged me during my pregnancy, as well as during other times of my life. Meditate on God's Word and allow His Holy Spirit to minister to you! His Words are LIFE and ALIVE and they will set you free and change your life radically. Take time each day to read God's Word and pray that He will give you grace and wisdom to apply it to your life.

In  His Love,
Tamara

More Encouragement:

During my pregnancy I kept a journal where I would jot down encouraging scriptures and thoughts. This helped me more than words can convey. There is such power in God's Word!  I would meditate on these scriptures and they helped me overcome when I was tempted to be anxious or fearful about the future. I also wrote down scriptures and encouragement based on God's Word on index cards. These are great to tape up all over your house if you like! Here are just a few that I jotted down --some are personalized and paraphrased to encourage me to apply it to MY life. Apply it to yours, too --it's so effective!
